cinephile

it seems i don't have anything to say anymore in these carefree summer days. so i want to post the pictures of the films that keep playing in my head from the moment i first saw them. there are many more of course; herzog, fassbinder, wong kar-wai, truffaut, gus van sant (let's say most of the time),mike nichols, woody allen, and of course bergman..but these scenes will do for now.
i guess my favorite three directors are: antonioni, bergman and fassbinder. whatever they do is fascinating for me.
the films i desparately want to see:
rushmore, au hasard balthazar, kill bill (1&2), la regle du jeu, the conformist, fanny and alexander.
all this cinema talk comes from the fact that i will be teaching cinema and violence next fall to americans and i have some concerns. i want to show some intelligent stuff and not oliverstone-like violence. but considering how foreign cinema is treated by the american audience, i guess they will either hate me or thank me.
two plans:
1- i will give out a survey in the beginning of the class, for my own purposes, asking questions evaluating how much they know of european cinema, and through what criteria they judge films (actor-based or director-based like me)
2- like my dear prof. mithat bey i will make an oscars session for fun on the last day. best actor, actress, film, etc..(and not director because they will all be great)

. .
. . ..
