mitchum as the yakuza

first of all i don't really appreciate the american interest in thejapanese samurai and yakuza culture and all this stuff about obligation, loyalty, friendship with enemy stuff. it's overdone and banal.
secondly i really hate it when the guys become friends at the expense of the woman. screw them.

the conformist

big name, great actors and a great director. anyonw who's a fan of director cinema or european cinema in general would know the excitement of waiting for the dvd release of this 1970 film. it was a good film that did not really live up the hype it created by not being out for so long. still it's worth watching even if it's only for the brilliance of its cinematography.
there were several contradictory parts of the story. overall it should be watched.
