1998 film by Hsiao-hsien Hou. It's a very beautiful description of an environment (upperclass brothels) where all relations are mediated by third parties. The genius of the mise-en-scene shows the women in their emotional confinement. It's also brilliant that the physical contacts (beatings, sex) are not shown in the film, making the emotional weight heavier.
2006 Danish film Soap by Pernille Fischer Christensen about the love/hate/friendship between a woman and a transsexual-to-be. Will Danish directors be ever bored of Dogma? It was not bad.
Rosi's 1961 film about criminal Salvatore Guiliano. It really fascinated me to see the exact same relationship between Turkish fascists, mafia and police in Sicily. Very good political film shot in documentary style.
2005 documentary by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato about the film that caused obscenity controversies in Nixon era. Interesting look at the development of porn industry and hollywood's instrumentalization of the profitable porn.
